Mariah Carey's Christmas album fails to take off

Things are not looking good for a 41-yo R&B diva Mariah Carey.

Mimi's latest offering ‘Merry Christmas II You’ LP have failed to excite fans with the lead singles ‘Oh Santa’ and the duet with her mum Patricia Carey fails miserably on the charts.



While ‘Oh Santa’ sold disappointingly at #100 on Billboard Hot 100, the album debuts at #4 with 56,537 copies sold on Billboard 200 this week. Even embarrassing for Carey despite high profile appearances last week on the national television about her pregnancy only managed to bow down behind Taylor Swift’s Speak Now album.

She continues to hold its piece of the #1 position on this week.

According to Hitsdailydouble.com  Swift album adds another 328k to its total of 1.05m last week and is now approaching 1.4m in just two weeks, which makes her the fifth best-selling release of the year.

Broken Bow’s Jason Aldean album, My Kinda Party, distributed by Bob Morelli's RED, continues country music’s impressive sales showing, the seventh straight genre title to nab the week’s top debut, with 197k,  good for #2.

Merry Christmas, her fourth studio album released by Columbia Records on November 1, 1994 managed to sold Merry Christmas has sold over twelve million copies worldwide, and is one of the best-selling Christmas albums of all time. "All I Want for Christmas Is You" is one of the few songs in recent years to be considered a classic!

Merry Christmas debuted at number thirty on the U.S. Billboard 200 with 45,000 copies sold in its first week.
