This is not Ripley's Believe It Or Not.
For the past 70 years, Jani who is a yogi reportedly had nothing not even a drop of water and had '0' calorie but still alive.
Dubbed as 'starving Yogi' Prahlad Jani, an 82-year-old man from India makes headlines recently when he didn’t ingest any food or water and yet perfectly healthy during a two-week hospital stay (in the western India, a state of Gujarat) that ended last week, Bodyodd.msnbc.msn.com reports.
Dr. Michael Van Rooyen an emergency physician at Harvard’s Brigham and Women’s Hospital, an associate professor at the medical school, and the director of the Harvard Humanitarian Initiative said this "is impossible!".
In 1932, Gandhi survived long stretches without food just during a 21-day hunger strike but researchers said they measured what Jani spit out clearly he was getting fluid somehow.
According to G. Ilavazahagan, director of India's Defence Institute of Physiology and Allied Sciences (DIPAS), he did have limited contact with water while gargling and bathing during Jani hospital study.
Body and cardiovascular system can't survive without any liquids and if you didn’t have a heart attack first, you’d die of kidney failure.
"You can hold a lot of water in those yogi beards. A sneaky yogi for certain," Dr. Van Rooyen said.
A reader asks "..if he does not need water, why is he gargling anyway? Or...
..maybe there was a naan bread and curry under his chin..somewhere :)
